EXCLUSIVE: Adult star John Legendary, 39, took his name as a variant of the person people always said he looked like, John Legend. But he got a shock when one date thought he was the actual pop singer
A racy star says a date once mistook him for John Legend and he ended up singing the All of Me singer's hits to her back at his villa.
Despite his similarity to the pop star's appearance, John Legendary has definitely chosen a different career path. But when it came to drawing inspiration for his industry name, Legendary, real name Daniel, opted for a variant of his double's name.
He said comparisons had constantly been made even before he really got started shooting his saucy flicks fulltime, so it was a no brainer. Speaking to the Daily Star, the actor shared a story about one time when a date was convinced he was the real deal.

Legendary said the date took place around eight years ago, well before his 2021 switch from aerospace engineer to adult performer.
John, who originally started life in Detroit, said when he first signed up his agent said he had to come up with a stage name. One name he came up was already the name of a star working in the gay porn industry.
He said: "My agent then said 'you do look like John Legend', and I thought 'oh yeah, I get that a lot, and we can twist it by adding Legendary'."
And with that new moniker a star was born, aged 37, with a name he says just runs deep with him and went on to explain why.
"I remember one time I was in Medellin Colombia for Thanksgiving," he said. "I took a solo trip, this was probably one of my first international solo trips.
"And I was using the dating apps to meet a girl. Met this girl, took her out to dinner. And I get a sense of so much emotion, of being overwhelmed, on her end.
"She was so happy because she really thought I was John Legend. This is years ago, this is before porn and everything. And I thought she was just joking, but then talking about I was in her dreams, she prayed for this.
"And I'm trying to keep myself composed, from not laughing in this poor woman's face. But then she started to cry, and I'm like, 'oh she's for real, she's serious about this'.
"So we left dinner, I took her back to my villa, and she wanted a concert. I can't sing, okay, at all. But I gave her a good performance, a good concert.
"I was singing the John Legend songs. And that's one story that has always stuck with me with the name John Legendary."
Despite only making the more recent shift to the porn industry, the 39-year-old is a double AVN award winner who regularly works for some of the top studios.
Legendary, originally from Detroit, also has his own production brand called LegendaryX.com for which he directs, produces and stars in content.
